A Photographer's Guide to Web Site Design

About Bob Peltz

Robert E. PeltzMy interest in photography started back in High School. Although I've never taken any photography classes, I've taught myself over the years using the "learn by your mistakes method". I took pictures of almost anything as it was fun to get out and try new things.

For the past three years now I've been shooting all digital and it was a change worth every penny! I no longer have to wait for images to come in the mail as I can now look at the back of the camera instantly and check if I like the shot and exposure. Or, download them to the computer and reveiw and edit them within minutes or hours after a photo-shoot.

Wildlife is what I prefer to photograph. My primary focus is on birds and White-tailed deer. Spending time around our backyard bird feeders has me hooked on birds, as they are beautiful and interesting to watch and learn from.

I have found sharing my images in local slide shows helps educate people and brings them enjoyment at the same time. Educating the public is one of my main goals as a photographer. In this fast paced world we live in, it's important to stop and look around us to see what many of us take for granted every day.

My hobby has taken me from selling note cards and a few prints to product shooting for "Duncraft" (a major backyard bird supply catalog) "Gardener's Supply Company" and added just recently "Hunter Specialties". I think the goal of a lot of photographers is to make their passion "pay" for itself. It takes a lot of hard work, but it's nice when it pays off!

Son Travis with American Flag © Bob PeltzHaving property here in Michigan offers an opportunity to photograph many different forms of wildlife throughout the year. Springtime is one of the most exciting as it offers so many choices of subjects. Recently I constructed a photo-blind near one of my ponds to capture images of the returning Wood Ducks. It works great and allows me to get very "up close and personal". I also get a good quantity of warblers passing through, although one of the best places is along the Lake Huron shoreline just to my East. Bluebirds returning for the summer keep me busy right in my own yard. The list goes on and on!

Getting out and photographing wildlife is very challenging and rewarding. Just like anything, the more you do it, the better you will get! Everyday I take out my camera it's a new adventure that I never get tired of. No two pictures are the same, just like a fingerprint. So grab your camera and get out there and enjoy it!!!
