While out shooting saturday I noticed a Bobolink consistently landing on a lone lilac tree near my neighbors house. Apparently, he liked the spot as a high vantage point to scope his territory and sing to the world. I think they are a very unique bird with an awesome song that says ...country summer!
I was testing the new Canon 800 5.6 lens and thought this would be a great subject to photograph. Would he allow me to get close enough for some shots...I wasn't sure. But as it turned out I was able to get within 100 feet and managed to get a few photos. The only problem was the wind! The light was perfect but the wind was blowing the top of the bush around so much that most of the images ended up not being tack sharp...even this one is not perfect. So, I need to try and photograph him again and hope for a calm day...thus the ever challenging aspect of nature photography. I just love it!!
